Sonoma saw round 1 of the 2026 season and concluded a weekend of what could’ve been. In race 1, Sam and James were the car to follow. In Sam’s stint alone, he built up what was close to a 15-second lead before disaster struck and a substantial mechanical failure caused their retirement with 6 minutes to go.
Race 2 came to a close with similar emotions. After Sam had completed his opening stint, an electrical fault within the gearbox developed after restarting the car during the driver change. Making it 2 for 2 premature retirements.
