Round 4 of the Rowe Britcar Trophy championship headed to Silverstone.
Car 96 was back and this time with a new engine. Without the previous power deficit Sam and Jack were keen to show what they are capable of. Qualifying was wet but quickly drying and consequently overheating the wet tyres, awarding them with a third.
Race 1 saw the boys finish in a very respectable 2nd, this meant that they started race 2 in second place on the grid. Sam was the starting driver for race 2 and by the third corner was leading the Clio’s. At driver change they had a success penalty of 10 seconds to be served in the pit stop for coming P2 in the first race. They finished the race with another second place!
Round 5 see team Dragon Sport at Oulton Park.
Keen to pick up where they left off at Silverstone, Sam and his co-driver Jack were determined to bring home another double podium with their eyes firmly on that top step.
Saturday qualifying was a wet one. Jack took the car out first to set a banker lap time before handing the car over to Sam to go for pole position. By the end of qualifying Sam was the quickest Clio on the grid by over a second, which put him on pole by the biggest margin so far this season.
In race 1 Sam pulled almost 10 seconds on the car in second, until a safety car came out and bunched the pack up. The pit window opened, so all the cars took advantage and dived into the pit lane for their driver change. Jack only had to maintain the lead to the end of the race – which he did. Sam and Jack got their first win!
Race 2 saw the boys start in pole position again, but they had a 15 second success penalty that had to be served at driver change, and the track was now dry! After Sam was able to fend off the car behind for a large number of laps, he brought it home in 3rd awarding the boys with yet another double podium.
Next stop Donington.
